Prof. Oleg Figovsky was the founder and R&D the Polymate Ltd. - International Nanotechnology Research Centre where he is working on research in nanostructured corrosion-resistant composite materials and protective coatings based on a polymer and silicate matrix.
In 1982 he elaborated the first nanostructured anticorrosive composite materials based LG-matrix, where nanoparticles are forming during technological process by hydrolysis of TFS. Last his elaborations are nanostructured nonisocyanate polyurethanes, nanocellulose and nanocomposites based on epoxy-rubber binders.
Novel nanotechnologies invented by Prof. O. Figovsky were the basis for establishing industrial production in the US, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia and Israel.
He is the President of IAI (Israel), member of European Academy of Sciences, Foreign Members of two Russian Academies of Sciences (REA & RAACS), the chairman of the UNESCO chair “Green Chemistry”.
Prof. O. Figovsky was elected the Presidium member of Russian Nanotechnology Society (2008). During a few years Prof. Figovsky carried out the reviews as an expert of Israeli Ministry of Industry & Trade (BASHAN program), European Committee (7 framework program) and RusNano (Russia).
He is a professor emeritus of Voronezh University and Kazan State Technical University and a doctor emeritus of Kazan State Technological University (all in Russia).
Prof. O. Figovsky is the Editor-in-Chief of the journals:
He is the member of the Editorial and Program Boards of the journals:
Prof. O. Figovsky was chairman and a key lecturer of many scientific and technical conferences and symposia.
Prof. O. Figovsky has authored of more than 20 books, more than 600 scientific articles and 500 patents. He is one of authors of the Encyclopedia of Surface and Colloid Science. For few of his inventions in field of nanotechnologies he was awarded gold and silver medals at the IENA-98 (Nurnberg, Germany) and the Gold Angel Prize at the “Genious-2006”. Company Polymate Ltd-INRC is headed by Prof. O. Figovsky was awarded in 2007 “NASA Nanotech Briefs®’ Nano 50™ Award” in the field of the nanostructured nonisocyanate polyurethanes and 2015 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, USA, 2015, July 2015 for "Developing a Safer, Plant-Based Polyurethane. Prof. Oleg Figiovsky was awarded the Order "Engineering Glory" of the Russian Academy of Engineering for "Achievements in Integration of International and Russian Engineering Community, a Contribution to the Development of the Theory and Practice of Engineering.
